Dietrich with tough week at Eldora Speedway; Upcoming agenda still tentative
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
GETTYSBURG, Pa. (July 18, 2022) – It was not the week Danny Dietrich wanted to experience at Eldora Speedway, but the nine-time feature winner in 2022 will work to rebound during the coming weekend, set to challenge the Greatest Show On Dirt in his own backyard.
Although ultimately missing Eldora’s $175,000-to-win Kings Royal finale on Saturday evening, getting caught up in a red flag incident during the Last Chance Showdown, “Double-D” had plenty of shining moments at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track, highlighting the trip with a 14th-place score in the 25-lap/$10,000-to-win Knight Before the Kings Royal program on Saturday afternoon. The Gettysburg native was battling for a top-five, but a spin as the result of contact would cost Dietrich multiple positions.
An expiring engine cost Dietrich a potential top-five in Eldora’s Jokers Wild program on Wednesday; he was racing inside the top-ten when the motor malfunctioned.
“It wasn’t the week we wanted, but we’ll regroup and go again…that’s all we can do,” Dietrich explained, driver of Gary Kauffman’s Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made Racing, No. 48 sprint car. “I’m not 100% sure of our plan for the week and weekend. I don’t think we’ll make the trip to Port Royal, but we’ll see how we feel on Wednesday.”
ON DECK:
Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing are unsure about upcoming plans. Their tentative schedule includes a midweek visit to Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, July 20, followed by Williams Grove Speedway’s annual Summer Nationals on Friday and Saturday, July 22-23. The Summer Nationals finale will award a $20,000 payday. All three programs will feature the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.
