Dietrich shows speed in Pevely; All Star commitments ahead
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
GETTYSBURG, Pa. (May 25, 2020) – Although the team’s final results were shy of the ultimate goal, Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing displayed a lot of speed during their visit to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri, and highlighted the World of Outlaws doubleheader with a 16th-place finish on Friday night, May 22. A fifth-place finish during heat race competition secured Dietrich’s spot in the 30-lap preliminary main event.
Although recording the tenth-fastest time during his respective group of qualifying time trials, the Gettysburg, Pennsylvania-native had to settle with being the ‘odd man out’ during the entire Saturday program, first missing a heat race transfer slot by one position, only to miss the evening’s $20,000-to-win, 40-lap feature grid with a fifth-place run during the Last Chance Showdown. There were 61 cars that made the call on Saturday night.
“Those weren’t the results we wanted, but we showed a lot of speed and I’m proud of my team for that,” Dietrich said, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC/Self Made/No. 48 sprint car. “I can’t thank Gary Kauffman enough for giving us the chance to pack up and leave home for a while. We’re lucky to have a lot of great support from not only our owner, but our partners and fans.”
For the foreseeable future, Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will switch focus and hit the road full-time with the All Star Circuit of Champions, kicking things off with a doubleheader at Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, South Dakota, on Friday and Saturday, May 29-30. The Park Jefferson double will award a total winner’s share equalling $13,200; $6,600 each evening.
In addition to South Dakota, Danny Dietrich’s All Star commitments will send the driver of the familiar No. 48 to areas within Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, and Louisiana between May 29 and June 14. The five-state road trip will include nine different facilities, all new to the 2019 Central PA Sprint Car Series and Williams Grove Speedway track champion.
“We’re excited for the challenge. With the way things are in Pennsylvania, this was a great opportunity for us to hit the road and race a lot over the next few weeks. I’ve always enjoyed racing with the All Stars and we’ve had some success with the Series. We hope to continue that success this weekend,” Dietrich stated. “The goal is to conclude this All Star swing in a position near the top of the standings. If that’s the case, we’ll be more than tempted to see things through and race for a championship. We are out here to win.”
