Dietrich earns seven top-fives to seal 2021 PA Sprint Speedweek championship; First title since 2016
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
GETTYSBURG, Pa. (July 5, 2021) – “Double D” Danny Dietrich was on mission over the last ten days, not only securing seven top-ten finishes in eight feature starts, but concluding the 2021 edition of Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek with the overall title, a first since accomplishing his first in 2016. Although not victorious, Dietrich’s Speedweek results were downright impressive, finishing on the podium five times in his seven top-ten appearances with the final two rounds resulting in runner-up finishes.
The Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek schedule was slated to feature ten events, but rain ultimately forced cancelations at Hagerstown Speedway on July 1 and Port Royal Speedway on July 3.
“What a week. I can’t say enough about this team right now. To everyone who helped us get to this point, thank you,” Dietrich stressed, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing, Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Bowhunters Superstore, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made, No. 48 sprint car. “We’re out here to win and that’s always been our number one priority, but to cap the week with a title says a lot about our program and our potential. On top of that, to go through the week without any mechanical issues is a testament to the crew and the manufacturers. I’m excited to keep this momentum going and hopefully work our way to the front next weekend when we get back to Sharon with the All Stars.”
Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing earned their seven top-tens during action at Williams Grove Speedway (3rd) on June 25, Lincoln Speedway (4th) on June 26, Lincoln Speedway (4th) on June 28, Grandview Speedway (3rd) on June 29, Port Royal Speedway (3rd) on June 30, Williams Grove Speedway (2nd) on July 2, and Selinsgrove Speedway (2nd) on July 4.
Major Speedweek highlights include a five-spot rally to finish fifth during the Davey Brown Tribute/Speedweek opener at Williams Grove Speedway, a nine-spot rally at Grandview to finish third in $10,000-to-win Hodnett Cup, and nearly pulling through for a win at Selinsgrove before Brent Marks took advantage in traffic.
Dietrich took command of the Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek championship standings after Wednesday’s visit to Port Royal.
Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2021 campaign with a stout, three-race loop through Pennsylvania and Ohio, set to visit Williams Grove Speedway on July 9 before joining the All Star Circuit of Champions for a doubleheader at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, on Saturday and Sunday, July 10-11. The Sharon double will commence with the annual Lou Blaney Memorial, followed up with Justin Snyder’s Salute to the Troops program; each event will award a $6,000 top prize.
No stranger to Sharon, Dietrich was victorious at the eastern Ohio short track already in 2021, earning the Ohio Sprint Speedweek stop win against the All Star Circuit of Champions.
