Dietrich caps Ohio Sprint Speedweek second in standings; Earns victory at Sharon Speedway

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (June 21, 2021) – Representing the Pennsylvania Posse in one of sprint car racing’s most grueling events, “Double-D” Danny Dietrich put together an impressive campaign during the 2021 edition of Ohio Sprint Speedweek featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions, capping the eight-race turned seven-race stretch with one victory and four top-ten finishes, earning three podium appearances in total which included his win. Dietrich’s run of results propelled the Gettysburg, Pennsylvania-native to second in the final Ohio Sprint Speedweek standings, falling just behind “Sunshine” Tyler Courtney.

Dietrich, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing, Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Bowhunters Superstore, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made, No. 48 sprint car, kicked-off Ohio Sprint Speedweek with a rally from 12th to finish sixth at Attica Raceway Park on June 11, followed by a runner-up finish at Fremont Speedway the following evening. Dietrich led every lap but the last at Fremont, giving up the top spot to Lockbourne, Ohio’s Cole Duncan in the final corner.

Continuing on, an 11th-place rally from 19th at Wayne County Speedway was followed by Dietrich’s aforementioned Speedweek win at Sharon Speedway on June 15, leading all 35 circuits to secure a $6,000 payday over Tyler Courtney. The victory, his first Series triumph in the state of Ohio and his first-ever Ohio Sprint Speedweek victory, bumped Dietrich’s win total to two in 2021, snapping a dry spell dating back to March 13.

A 17th-place finish at Waynesfield Raceway Park on June 16 was flanked by a 12th-place score at Muskingum County Speedway on June 17.

After a rainout at Limaland on Friday, “Double-D” went on to end his Speedweek campaign with a podium performance at Portsmouth Raceway Park on Saturday. Dubbed the Dean Knittel Memorial, Dietrich finished third in the $17,554-to-win program, leading laps 26-29 before low fuel forced Dietrich’s motor to stumble; Paul McMahan went on to win.

“Hats off to my guys. It’s a long week, but they kept on top of things and worked hard each and every night. We showed a lot of speed this week, which I’m proud of, but we were in a position to win a lot more than just the Sharon race. Regardless, we have a pretty solid notebook now, so we’ll come back next year and try to do it again, but better,” Dietrich said. “To get the win at Sharon was pretty special. Derek Snyder does so much for my race team, and to win at his home track holds a pretty incredible feeling.”

From one Speedweek to the next, Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2021 campaign with the 31st running of Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek, which activates Friday evening, June 25, at Williams Grove Speedway. A staple in Posse Country, Pennsylvania’s speedweek agenda will feature ten consecutive nights of racing. For more information, please visit www.paspeedweeks.com.
