Danny Dietrich rallies big in National Open preliminary, will join Outlaws in Port Royal double

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (October 4, 2021) – “Double-D” Danny Dietrich may have missed the ultimate goal, but the Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, native put on a show during the two-day National Open at Williams Grove Speedway featuring the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and secured a top-ten result along the way, doing so during the weekend opener on Friday, October 1.

The top-ten, finishing eighth, officially, in the $10,000-to-win preliminary, was the product of determination and resilience, forced to battle his way through the evening’s Last Chance Showdown, which he won, before charging ahead from 21st on the feature grid. The former Williams Grove Speedway track champion was forced to compete in the Last Chance Showdown after a cam issue sidelined Dietrich during his respective heat race.

Dietrich went on to finish 12th in the $75,000-to-win National Open finale on Saturday, October 2. A rally from seventh to fourth during his respective heat secured Dietrich’s spot in the evening’s 40-lapper, ultimately climbing four spots in the A-Main.

“They were bittersweet results I would have to say. I think we were on pace to contend for a win on Friday, but you have to work with the cards you’re given. Hats off to Williams Grove Speedway…the track was great and we were able to make up a lot of ground in a hurry,” Danny Dietrich said, driver of Gary Kauffman’s Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Bowhunters Superstore, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made, Graver’s Garage, Racer’s New & Used Parts Warehouse, No. 48 sprint car. “We’re going to do our best to put ourselves in even better positions at Port Royal. This team has what it takes to win against the best in the world. We’ve done it before, so it’s time to do it again.”

Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2021 campaign with a two-day World of Outlaws outing at the Port Royal Speedway “Speed Palace” on Friday and Saturday, October 8-9. Dubbed the Nittany Showdown, the two-day blockbuster will award $10,000 and $15,000, respectively, as well as conclude all World of Outlaws competition in the Keystone State for the 2021 season.

Dietrich is a recent Port Royal winner, claiming the 2021 Labor Day Classic victory on Monday afternoon, September 6.
