GETTYSBURG, Pa. (January 29, 2024) – It was a last minute decision, but it certainly paid off, as “Double-D” Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing launched their 2024 season with United Sprint Car Series (USCS) competition at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida, concluding their two-day 360 sprint car venture with back-to-back top-fives, one of which acquired in hard-charging fashion.

In actuality, Dietrich, ace of Gary Kauffman’s Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Cochrancars.com, York Excavating, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Self Made Racing, No. 48 sprint car, finished fifth in each of his top-five appearances, gaining 16 feature positions in total including a nine-spot rally in the $10,000-to-win finale – the aforementioned hard charge.

The Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, native opened the Germfree Southern Sprint Car Shootout with a bump from 12th to fifth on Friday, earning his way into the season’s first A-Main with a third-place finish during his respective heat race.

“It was a quick, but great trip to Volusia. We made a few mistakes that put us back in the running order some, but we were able to recover and that’s all that matters. We’ll use this lap time to our advantage when we return with the Outlaws,” Dietrich said. “A big thanks to everyone who made this last minute trip happen. We’re excited to get back down there and try again.”

COMING UP NEXT:
Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their Florida visit with DIRTcar Nationals competition at Volusia Speedway Park, all of which activating officially with an open practice session on Tuesday, February 6. Four straight days of World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series action will follow on Wednesday through Saturday, February 7-10.

Once DIRTcar Nationals action is complete, Double-D will switch directions and head southwest, anxious to join the High Limit Sprint Car Series in a two-day attack at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Florida, on Monday and Tuesday, February 12-13.
