Danny Dietrich makes plenty of noise in Port Royal’s Weikert Memorial; Four-race weekend on tap

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (May 31, 2022) – Flying the Weikert Livestock colors and iconic number, “Double-D” Danny Dietrich put together a sound performance in Port Royal Speedway’s annual Bob Weikert Memorial on Saturday and Sunday, May 28-29, earning back-to-back top-ten appearances during the All Star Circuit of Champions-sanctioned doubleheader highlighted with a podium run in the $10,000-to-win preliminary. Dietrich led the first 24 circuits before surrendering spots to Lance Dewease and eventual winner, Anthony Macri; he finished third.
The following evening in the $29,000-to-win finale, Dietrich finished ninth, utilizing a second consecutive redraw qualification to start seventh on the main event grid.
Although not an All Star program, Dietrich kicked-off the extended holiday weekend with a visit to Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, May 26. The Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, native went on to finish third, recovering six spots in a non-stop 25-lapper.
“We really wanted to get a win for the Weikert Family this weekend. We were close on Saturday, just came up a little short,” Danny Dietrich explained, driver of the Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made Racing, No. 29 sprint car. “Hats off to all of the fans for coming out and supporting the Weikert Memorial this weekend. With the way things are, it’s awesome to see so many people in the stands. We appreciate their support in so many ways.”
Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2022 campaign with another action-packed weekend in the Keystone State, first visiting BAPS Motor Speedway in York Haven on Thursday, June 2, followed by stops at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, and Path Valley Speedway Park in Spring Run on Friday through Sunday, June 3-5, respectively.
