Danny Dietrich finds podium twice in Port Royal’s three-day Tuscarora weekend

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (September 12, 2022) – Despite a mechanical issue that forced “Double-D” to retire early in Friday’s Night Before the Tuscarora 50 main event, Danny Dietrich’s overall Tuscarora 50 campaign, featuring the highly-touted All Star Circuit of Champions, was nearly flawless, not only activating the week with a runner-up finish in Thursday’s $8,000-to-win preliminary, but concluding the three-day, three-race schedule with another podium result on Saturday, ending the 50-lap, $60,000-to-win Tuscarora 50 finale third in the running order. The Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, native led the first 27 circuits of Port Royal’s richest race, forced to surrender the top spot to Logan Wagner before eventual winner, Anthony Macri, took control on lap 41.

Dietrich would fade to fourth briefly before reclaiming third on lap 45.

As mentioned, Dietrich, driver of Gary Kauffman’s Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made Racing, No. 48 sprint car, finished second in Thursday’s Tuscarora 50 preliminary, staring fourth on the main event grid by way of All Star dash result.

After driving around Bill Balog, “Double-D” did everything he could to track down eventual winner, Anthony Macri, during the late stages of the 30-lapper, but time ran thin.

Dietrich was battling in the second position when his eventual motor issue occurred on Friday; he pulled to a stop on lap 23.

“Overall, just an awesome weekend for this race team. We felt really good every time we were on the race track. We needed to be a little bit better to be in the hunt on Saturday, but in all, proud of what we accomplished,” Dietrich explained. “I just want to thank the fans for coming out and supporting the Tuscarora 50. Even with the weather being iffy on Saturday, it was a packed house and it’s an awesome feeling to compete in front of a crowd like that.”

ON DECK:
Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2022 campaign with a visit to BAPS Motor Speedway on Thursday, September 15, followed by All Star Circuit of Champions starts at Lincoln Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and Saturday, September 16-17.
