Danny Dietrich edged out in the Pigeon Hills; Lincoln and Port Royal ahead

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (March 2, 2020) – Certainly synonymous with success in the Pigeon Hills, ‘Double-D’ Danny Dietrich was one position shy of capturing a second consecutive victory at the ‘Fabulous’ Lincoln Speedway over the weekend, only to be denied by Dylan Cisney by a fraction of a second.

Dietrich, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC/Self Made/No. 48 sprint car, finished second at Lincoln Speedway on Sunday afternoon, utilizing patience and skill to maneuver ahead from sixth on the grid.

Although Cisney held on to earn a first-ever Lincoln victory, the battle for the top spot remained action-packed until the final checkers flew, as Cisney, Dietrich, Gerard McIntyre, Jr. and Brian Montieth, who led laps three through 13 before spinning outside of the top-five, raced nearly nose-to-tail for the final four circuits.

In fact, Montieth and Dietrich each drove by McIntyre to secure second and third, respectively, with three laps remaining, all before Dietrich settled into the runner-up spot with two laps remaining. A desperate last-ditch attempt to track down Cisney ultimately fell short by two-tenths of a second.

Dietrich kicked-off his afternoon at Lincoln Speedway with a third-place finish during his respective heat race, good enough to qualify for the feature redraw.

“That was a lot of fun. Hopefully the fans enjoyed that one because it was a ton of fun for all of us racing near the front. Of course, we wanted that one bad, but we want all of them. That’s what we are out here to do,” Danny Dietrich said, a 15-time feature winner in 2019. “I can’t say enough about this team right now. Jake and everyone else works their butts off and I appreciate all that they do. Hopefully we can come back out next weekend and win one or two.”

Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2020 campaign with a Central Pennsylvania doubleheader on Saturday and Sunday, March 7 & 8. Dietrich will jumpstart his weekend with another afternoon visit to the ‘Fabulous’ Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, March 7, followed by the $5,000-to-win Port Royal Speedway season opener on Sunday, March 8.
