Danny Dietrich captures third Central PA Sprint Cars Series point championship in four years
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
GETTYSBURG, Pa. (November 16, 2020) – Despite closing out his 2020 campaign with a frustrating “DNF” during Sprint Showdown competition at BAPS Motor Speedway on Saturday, November 14, “Double-D” Danny Dietrich still managed to secure his third Central PA Sprint Cars Series championship in four years, edging fellow Posse hotshot, Anthony Macri, by seven markers in the final tally.
Dietrich, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing, Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made, No. 48 sprint car, captured 12 point-earning victories during the 2020 Series chase, most recently finding the top spot during Lincoln Speedway’s season finale on October 17. The finale was one of eight triumphs in the Pigeon Hills, all of which kicked-off with the Icebreaker on February 22.
In addition to his eight victories at the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway, Dietrich attained Central Pennsylvania wins at Williams Grove Speedway, Selinsgrove Speedway, Trail-Way Speedway, and Grandview Speedway. Dietrich’s Grandview win, forced to out-duel now three-time All Star champion, Aaron Reutzel, in a final lap shootout, was accomplished during All Star Circuit of Champions competition, claiming $5,000 in the process.
In fact, Dietrich earned two All Star victories in 2020 with the first occurring at Monarch Motor Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas, on Friday, June 12. Although not accumulating points toward the Central PA championship, the Lone Star State win does bump Dietrich’s overall win count to 13 in 2020.
“It’s pretty tough to be disappointed about a 13-win season and another Central PA title, but I think we all wanted a little bit more. The guys bust their butts all year long. They deserved a few more marks in the win column,” Dietrich said. “I just want to thank all of my partners for sticking through the craziness that 2020 brought. It was a weird year, especially the beginning, but once the season started to finally get rolling, we were able to put a nice schedule together and race for a lot of big purses. I want to thank all of the fans, too. If it wasn’t for them, especially in 2020, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. They saved our season, and for that, I’m extremely thankful.”
News and notes pertaining to Danny Dietrich’s 2021 season will be posted in the coming weeks. Fans are encouraged to stay alert online, as well as on all of the available social media outlets.
