Danny Dietrich nails down ninth victory of 2022 in PA Sprint Speedweek finale
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
GETTYSBURG, Pa. (July 5, 2022) – Despite a slow start to his 2022 Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek campaign, not breaking into the top-ten until the second Lincoln Speedway visit on Monday, June 27, “Double-D” Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing (GKR) turned things around in a hurry, ultimately capping the ten-day slugout with six top-ten appearances, one of which a victory in the 30-lap Opperman-Bogar-Heintzelman Memorial at Selinsgrove Speedway on Sunday, July 3.
Forced to outduel four-time Speedweek winner and eventual Speedweek champion, Brent Marks, Dietrich took command over the “Myerstown Missile” with just two circuits remaining, utilizing a bold move in traffic to secure the point. The $10,099 victory bumped Dietrich’s season total to nine; it was his first of the season at Selinsgrove Speedway.
In addition to his victory, other Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek highlights for Dietrich and GKR include finishing fourth at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania, on June 28, and fourth from 11th at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Maryland, on June 30. The former Speedweek champion was fifth from 13th at Williams Grove Speedway on July 1, then sixth from ninth at Port Royal Speedway the following evening, Saturday, July 2.
“I think we wanted to be in a little better position overall, but it was a solid week and I’m proud of everyone involved,” Dietrich said, ace of the Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made Racing, No. 48 who finished fourth in the final Speedweek standings. “It’s been a pretty wild last few weeks for our team with Ohio Speedweek then Pennsylvania Speedweek. We have a little bit of a normal weekend this weekend then we’ll head to Eldora.”
