Danny Dietrich highlights Florida trip with All Star top-ten at Volusia Speedway Park
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
GETTYSBURG, Pa. (February 17, 2020) – Danny Dietrich’s 2020 Florida trip was as busy as it was competitive, eventually ending his trip in the Sunshine State with eight nights of competition, seven consecutive, on February 5-13, entering All Star Circuit of Champions, World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and open 360c.i. events in the process.
Eight nights of action translated into eight main events starts for the 2019 Central Pennsylvania sprint car champion, highlighting all outcomes with a tenth-place performance, the result of a charge from row nine, against the All Star Circuit of Champions at Volusia Speedway Park on Thursday, February 6. A caution just as the leaders were passing under the final checkers negated further progress by Dietrich on the last lap.
In total, Dietrich entered DIRTcar Nationals action at Volusia Speedway Park on five consecutive nights finishing 13th (All Stars), the aforementioned tenth (All Stars), 20th (WoO), 15th (WoO), and 11th (WoO).
Once the sprint car portion of the DIRTcar Nationals concluded at Volusia Speedway Park, Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing turned their focus toward East Bay Raceway Park where the All Star Circuit of Champions headlined action on Monday and Tuesday, February 10-11. Dietrich qualified for each of the $5,000-to-win A-Mains and finished 22nd and 13th, respectively.
East Bay’s stout field of 410c.i. sprint cars quickly made the change to 360c.i. sprint cars, as the annual King of the 360’s/Ronald Laney Memorial took over East Bay Raceway Park headlines on Thursday evening, February 13. Although Dietrich planned to participate in all three nights of action, the Gettysburg, Pennsylvania-native ended his run after the first night; he was scored 24th after pulling off of the speedway early.
“It was a fun week and we enjoyed ourselves. I think our results lacked our potential and capabilities, but the lap time is what we came down here for,” Danny Dietrich explained, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Sweeney Chevrolet-Buick-GMC/Self Made/No. 48 sprint car. “I can’t thank my team enough. A schedule like that, especially in the Florida sun, can be brutal, but they hung tough and and I’m proud of them. Our Pennsylvania season starts pretty dang soon. I’m ready to get back to Lincoln.”
Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will activate their 2020 Central Pennsylvania season on Saturday, February 22, with the annual ‘Icebreaker’ at the ‘Fabulous’ Lincoln Speedway. Dietrich finished third during the $4,000-to-win showstopper in 2019.
